Have you ever wanted to master death by chocolate cake? Well, now is your chance. One mum’s recipe for death by chocolate cake has sent the Internet into a frenzy.

Mary Grace shared her easy-to-follow recipe to the Baking Ourselves Crazy Facebook group where it got the big thumbs up from fellow foodies. The best part is, the cake recipe only requires basic ingredients like sugar, flour, milk, butter and cocoa powder you probably already have laying around your kitchen!

“Hello everyone!” she captioned the post. “Here’s my super moist dark chocolate cake recipe! Please check this out! Hope you guys will love this the way I do!”

To make the sponge, the mum says in a video, which she shared alongside the post, to sift two cups of all-purpose flour and one and a half cups of granulated sugar with 2/3 of a cup of cocoa powder, one and a half teaspoons of baking soda, one teaspoon of baking powder and one teaspoon of salt and mix together.

Then, crack in one egg and pour in the milk mixture (one cup milk and two teaspoon vinegar), one cup of vegetable oil and then one and a half teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix together with an electric hand mixer. Once smooth, add 2/3 cup of boiling water and mix again until well combined.

Pour the cake mixture into two tins lined with baking paper and bake in the oven at 135 degrees Celcius for roughly 35 minutes, although she says it depends on your oven.

While the cake is baking, prepare the ganache by mixing one cup of milk, two tablespoons of flour and half a cup of sugar in a saucepan over the stove top. Then add in third cup of cocoa powder and mix until thick and smooth, before adding in the butter. When the butter melts completely, turn off the fire and set aside to cool off completely.

The mum then explained that the filling is made by slicing the tops off the cooked sponges and mixing the crumbs with a third cup of sugar, a quarter cup of cocoa powder, and one and a half cups of milk.

Many of the page’s other followers were quick to comment, with one writing: “That looks delicious.” Another added: “So yummy.”
