He is loved the world over for his sensational voice and charming personality, now Andrea Bocelli has treated fans to a glimpse inside of his family home at Christmas, as he revealed what the holiday means to him.

Describing Christmas as “a promise”, the Ava Maria singer penned a heartfelt festive message to his fans and opened up about why he finds the holiday so special, from the excitement of children about to open presents, to his faith in God.

“Christmas is a promise,” he wrote on Facebook. “A promise that is made every year and that stays with us through every season of the year.

“As children, we await its arrival for the feel of love and mystery that spreads throughout the house, for the magic of a wish come true, of a gift that appears, while we are sleeping.

Growing up, Christmas continues to express a wonderful promise. And the joy and the greatest gift lie in the deep meaning of this holiday, in the certainty of a promise that will be kept.”

Andrea also shared a sweet photograph, taken presumably on Christmas Day, of his whole family posing together around a grand piano in their Italian home.

He added: “Christmas is the most beautiful day of the year for becoming children once again, to act with the same disarmed trust before the Father who created us, celebrating the supremacy of life. That will be why it is so lovely to spend it together with our loved ones, trusting in the greatest heavenly Family.”

Another commented: ” I enjoyed this family photo it is one that shows the love of the members of your family. I hope your Christmas was blessed with the warmth of the season.”

Andrea had another reason to celebrate Christmas this year too, as his latest album Si jumped straight to the top of the Classic FM album charts, beating off competition from Aled Jones, Russell Watson and Andre Rieu.

The record features a number of collaborations with his children, including the spine-tingling track ‘Fall On Me’, which features his son Matteo – and was selected for the soundtrack of recent Disney movie The Nutcracker and The Four Realms.

Earlier this year, Andrea sent his fans into a frenzy when he released the incredible video for the father-son duet, leaving many fans in tears due to the beautiful footage of the pair singing and playing the piano together, alongside photos of them over time.
