Olivia Newton-John has remained a strong supporter of her long-term friend Sir Cliff Richard, even through a difficult few years when he was investigated by police over historic sex assault accusations.

Richard was cleared by police on all accusations and later described his “despair” at having his home searched and broadcast on TV. Now the Grease star has celebrated their firm friendship with a loving social media photo – and they look closer than ever.

The actress, 69, looked healthy and happy in the photo, showing off her glowing complexion with minimal make-up. Meanwhile, Cliff kept his arms around her, wearing a bright patterned shirt for the close-up.

She wrote: “Caught up with my dear wonderful friend Sir Cliff Richard. My inspiration as a young performer in England. Brilliant singer and entertainer- gorgeous voice.”

The pair have worked together a lot in the past, and famously joined forces on their ‘Suddenly’ duet in 1980, a song from the soundtrack Xanadu. They have remained close over the years, and the actress stuck firmly by his side throughout his high-profile police investigation.

Meanwhile, Newton-John appears to be staying strong as she battles breast cancer for a second time. Revealing she has been looking into more natural healing methods recently, she also shared a photo from a retreat she attended with Dr V, author of the Breast Cancer Conquerer website and books on healing methods.

She wrote alongside a photo of the pair: “I just spent a few days at a wonderful Healing Diva Retreat with Dr. V (@breastcancerconqueror). Her program provided new evidence based tools and insights to joyfully continue my journey… #1 Best Selling Author and #1 Best Selling Book on Amazon.”

Fans were quick to comment on her glowing appearance, with one writing: “You have such a sweet face, ONJ,” while another added: “You look beautiful Olivia! I want you to know I pray for your healing everyday…..”

In an interview on Channel 7’s Sunrise at the end of last year, Newton-John revealed she was remaining very positive about her battle and said: “I’m feeling well. In fact, I just finished a tour on the weekend, so I’ve been working again. And I have no pain and life is wonderful.”

She has since set up her own Cancer and Wellness Centre, and regularly tours Australia promoting her work, and natural methods of healing.
