For years, vanilla slice lovers have wrestled with the challenge of cutting their beloved treat without creating a custard catastrophe.
Recently, however, the secret got out on the perfect way to cut the much-loved pastry thanks to Ferguson Plarre’s Bakehouse in Melbourne who shared the correct method, much to the excitement of dessert lovers across the country.
Rather than making the customary top-to-bottom slice, the ingenious baker adopted a unique approach by tilting the slice on its side, and placing the custard on top.
She then elegantly guided the knife through the vanilla slice, preserving its pristine layers and structure.
“When you realise you’ve been cutting a Vanilla Slice wrong your whole life,” the bakery captioned the video.
