That’s because hip problems can impact your balance, and resulting falls can then cause further hip injury. In fact, hundreds of thousands of over-60s suffer hip injuries every year, with 95 percent of the injuries caused by a fall. Women are more likely than men to suffer this kind of injury.

To keep your hips in tip-top share, though, there are some simple exercises you can do, with a chair being the only equipment you need.

Of course, if you’ve recently have had any serious problems with your hip or have had hip surgery, it’s always important to discuss with your doctor any exercise you plan to do, or you could cause further injury.
