He’s one of Australia’s most-loved TV presenters, with fans across the country standing behind him and offering their support during his recent health battle. And now, Barry Du Bois is taking a well-deserved break from his cancer treatment.

The 58-year-old announced that he had been diagnosed with plasmacytoma myeloma, cancer of the immune system, last year during an emotional episode of The Living Room. While he’s undergone some gruelling treatment in recent months, he has now taken a temporary break from his cancer management to spend time with his beloved children Bennett and Arabella.

Taking to his Instagram page, the star said he wanted to create happy memories for the adorable twins, so he’s flown the entire family to Disneyland in California for some much-needed family time.

In one photo, he stood alongside wife Leonie as the kids hitched piggyback rides from their parents to explore the magic of the park.

“Ultimate family fun, loving our holiday in Disneyland and have memories forever,” he said.

Meanwhile, he posted another photo of little Bennett having the time of his life on a merry-go-round, writing: “Life is all about banking beautiful memories and Disneyland is the place to do it.”

In another video, he showed both Bennett and Arabella getting Disney makeovers in the theme park to look like a Disney princess and prince.

“Making some magic happen at #disneyland,” he gushed.

In his Instagram story, he also showed the family enjoying the spectacular Disneyland fireworks at night.

Just last month, Barry underwent further cancer treatment and thanked the nurses and hospital staff who have continued to look after him. He received chemotherapy and announced that his cancer isn’t completely curable, although he is receiving a new course of treatment.

He’s looked in better health in recent Instagram posts and has come a long way from earlier this year, where he lost his hair and experienced severe diarrhoea, nausea, infection and fever. Treatment also meant that he missed out on seeing his kids off on their first day at school.

“An incredibly proud day with my beautiful babies starting school, bitterly disappointed I can not be with them this morning but I guess everyday I am in this hospital is a day closer to it all being over,” he said at the time. “Thank you all for your support, I can’t be prouder and still think I am the luckiest bloke in the world.”

It looks like he’s well and truly made it up to his family.
