They’re unrecognisable! The Brady Bunch kids reunite for Christmas special

They were firm favourites in households across the world in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but the original kids of The Brady Bunch are now bringing that magic back to screens in their iconic TV home – 50 years later.

The six original kids of the hit family show have reunited for a Christmas-themed photoshoot in their home – which recently underwent a huge makeover with the help of TV network HGTV – as they announce their one-off show, A Very Brady Renovation: Holiday Edition, set to air in December.

Barry Williams (Greg), Maureen McCormick (Marcia), Christopher Knight (Peter), Eve Plumb (Jan), Mike Lookinland (Bobby) and Susan Olsen (Cindy) all lined up in their signature order on the much-loved staircase to reenact their classic photos from decades before. And the whole cast is barely recognisable.

They are set to join Ree Drummond, the star of Food Network’s The Pioneer Woman, and Jasmine Roth, star of HGTV’s Hidden Potential, to decorate the home with Christmas decorations from years gone by, as well as cook up some ‘70s-inspired treats.

While HGTV confirmed the treats will include fondue-style potatoes, a gelatin fruit salad and “santapes”, the decorations will also prove nostalgic for many as the cast turn household items into incredible pieces. They will end the show by sitting down together to enjoy Christmas dinner under the tree.

A trailer has also been released ahead of the show airing, revealing the cast’s incredible transformations close-up as they laugh and joke together on screen. And while the home is instantly recognisable, it has undergone a very retro makeover to give it a festive feel.

While the exterior of the beloved home was used for filming at the time of the original show, the internal scenes were actually shot in a Hollywood film studio, so the inside didn’t look anything like the home the Bradys lived in. To preserve the memories of children across the world, the stars teamed up in November last year to transform the house, which is reportedly worth $3.5 million. Speaking about the experience previously on morning show Today, the cast explained it was the first time they had all been together in 15 years.

“It’s been [15 years] since all of us have been back together,” McCormick said at the time. “Everyone looks at the projects as they come and this one I think just got us all [excited]. It was HGTV who, you know, their programming is amazing. This whole show is filled with so much love. The crew, everybody behind it – it’s a work of art.”

Each member of the Brady family was tasked to renovate one room in the home to make it look as close to what viewers saw on TV during the 1960s and ’70s. For Mike – who played Bobby – it was the master bedroom, which he joked was a bit of a challenge as his character never went in the room.

The TV show was hugely popular with audiences across the world, as the show aired for five seasons before it was cancelled in 1974. The cast went on to star in a number of sequels though, the most recent of which being The Brady Bunch in The White House which hit US TV screens in 2002. They finished their latest HGTV series earlier this year.
