Rod Stewart and Michael Buble send fans wild with ‘It’s a Heartache’ duet

They have different styles of music and completely different singing voices, but Rod Stewart and Michael Buble have proved the perfect team as they performed an amazing duet of Bonnie Tyler’s hit song ‘It’s a Heartache’ live on the radio recently.

While 73-year-old Rod was due to perform with his band and backing singers on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show in the UK, he managed to persuade Michael to join him mid-way through to create some surprisingly good harmonies.

A video, taken behind the scenes of the radio show, reveals the moment Rod takes to the microphone – showing off his vibrant style in white trousers, a matching shirt and a waistcoat. His voice has barely changed over the years and he manages to impress viewers throughout with his rendition of the classic.

Michael is seen cheering him on from a seat in front of him, before Rod beckons to him mid-way through and he immediately jumps out of his seat to join him. The pair then sing along to the famous words until the end.

Fans loved the impromptu performance with one commenting: “Rod Stewart voice still super. Amazing,” while another added: “Rod Stewart is the greatest of all time!!! Micheal Buble is absolutely amazing too. Love them most. If they were to ever tour together I’d DEFINITELY be there!!!!!”

And one wrote: “Brilliant…..hot Rod’s voice just gets better…..what a performer.”

It’s not the first time the pair have performed together, and Michael previously invited his friend and fellow musician for a duet of ‘Winter Wonderland’ on his ‘Home for the Holidays’ Christmas Special in 2012. They had previously released the duet the year before.

Meanwhile, it came just days before Rod suffered a nasty accident while playing football with his sons Alistair, 12, and Aiden, seven, at home – leaving him in a huge leg cast.

Explaining what happened during an appearance on The One Show on Monday, he told presenter Gabby Logan: “What do you think? Footballing injury. I was kicking around, I bought the boys an AstroTurf pitch because I don’t play much anymore. 

“But we were playing the other day and I ran in the nettles to get the ball and trod on a great, big lump of concrete and this is what happened.

“It’s only a precautionary measure and I’ll be fine in a couple of days.”
