He won the first series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2007, stunning people right around the world with his beautiful version of Pavarotti’s ‘Nessun Dorma’ and now opera singer Paul Potts has returned to the stage to take on the likes of Susan Boyle in America’s Got Talent: The Champions.

Wowing the crowds once again, Paul, 48, performed a flawless rendition of Pavarotti’s ‘Caruso’ in the semi-finals of the show, which is currently airing on NBC in the US and Fox 8 in Australia. The spin-off of the reality talent show sees the most popular contestants from international versions of the talent program competing against each other in an exciting new competition.

Standing in front of judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel, Paul belted out the haunting song perfectly, bringing the crowd to their feet and getting a huge cheer from all of the judges.

It’s sparked calls from many viewers for him to team up with Susan herself for a duet, with one person commenting on the video: “Can you imagine a duet with him and Susan Boyle together? That would be epic.”

Another added: “He has one of the most beautiful voices in the world in my opinion. I still remember his performance,” and one wrote: “Absolutely phenomenal.”

Paul originally shot to fame when he appeared for his audition on the British talent show in 2007, revealing to the judges that he was a manager at phone store Carphone Warehouse at the time.

Despite all three of them appearing to expect the worse, they were all blown away when he performed a flawless rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’ — even reducing UK judge Amanda Holden to tears.

While Paul won the show at the time, Susan Boyle finished second in her own year’s competition in 2009 – yet she’s gone on to become a worldwide sensation too.

Meanwhile, Paul’s life was turned into a blockbuster movie in 2013. One Chance showed audiences around the world the untold story of Paul, with James Corden appearing as the talented singer.

Now, having been voted through to the finals on America’s Got Talent by the public, Paul will go head to head with his fellow singer in the show’s final after Susan wowed the crowds last week with a beautiful performance of ‘Wild Horses’ by The Rolling Stones.

Speaking on camera at the time, Susan admitted she was shocked she didn’t win Britain’s Got Talent but was overwhelmed that she sold more than 20 million records around the world. In fact, Susan went on to become one of the most recognisable singers in the world, with her debut album becoming the biggest selling album in UK history.

The ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ singer said she considered herself a champion for those without confidence to do things and for people who don’t have a voice and who are ignored.

“I couldn’t possibly walk away from a second chance,” she explained. “I’m excited to show Simon how much I’ve grown since the last time.”
