It was magnificent! Truly magnificent! Tonight on Australia’s Got Talent Semi Finals, the Hummingsong Choir kicked off the show with enormous force, singing the beautiful Viva la Vida by Coldplay with perfect pitch. The wholly-female choir, packed with many over-60 participants has come together as a way to sing for fun to “nourish their souls”. Their choir of 350 women rallied with great excitement for the Australia’s Got Talent Final on the 1st September 2019.
The choir posted excitedly about their Semi-Final performance earlier this week on their Facebook wall.
“Just a few of the hundreds of happy Humming-songsters ready to perform the AGT semi-finals. This journey has been so exhilarating but more than that, it has strengthened our connections as women sharing the love of song, fun, friendship and community together. We hope it inspires others to do the same.”
They posted pictures of themselves in the “holding room” waiting to go on stage too.
The judges all chimed in with great feedback.
“I couldn’t feel more energised and empowered by looking at you women right now; to be united, to stand together for such a beautiful purpose and beautiful message to make a difference, it’s just so powerful,” said Nicole.
“You guys are the best choir I’ve ever witnessed,” said Lucy.
Hummingsong Choirs are a network of women’s a cappella choirs, with over 450 members positioned in six different locations on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore. Anna Humberstone is the Founder and Artistic Director and she works with three other deeply passionate conductors.
The choirs are non auditioned and non-exclusive, designed only for community singing. They’re committed to raising funds fo women and children escaping domestic violence, raising money through their festivals and annual concert event.
Their previous performance in the weeks prior also brought tears to the nation’s eyes.
The choir has been overwhelmed with interest since they first appeared on Australia’s Got Talent and this week have announced the launch of a Melbourne choir.
The grand final of Australia’s Got Talent will be airing at 7pm on Sunday September 22 on Channel 7.
