Doris Day’s big birthday surprise
It is not the sort of birthday present many would want to receive.
Doris Day was all set to celebrate her 93rd birthday on Monday.
The star of classic movies such as Pillow Talk, Calamity Jane and Move Over Darling was surprised to be told she had her dates wrong.
A copy of her birth certificate, found by The Associated Press through Ohio’s Office of Vital Statistics, states she was born in Cincinnati on April 3, 1922, actually making her 95.
Issuing a statement after finding out the news the star said she had never much paid attention to birthdays but said it was great to finally know how old she really was.
She celebrated her birthday asking people to support her favourite cause; animal welfare.
In 2008 a video tribute to Doris Day (below) was shown during the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, presented by singers Tony Bennett and Natalie Cole.
To many of us, no matter her age, Doris Day is ageless.
