Barry Manilow says he has been overwhelmed with support after officially coming out as gay, admitting he married his business partner Gary Kief in 2014.
The news earlier this month, Manilow admits, was not news to those around him, nor to many of his fans.

Talking to the Today Show US hosts Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly,Manilow said he was normally a private person.
“Yes, fame hit me, but I never really wanted to go on that ride so I kept my dogs to myself, I kept my home to myself,” Manilow said.
“This part is uncomfortable, but the topic — no, I’m not uncomfortable about that. Garry and I have been together for going on 40 years. It’s amazing for anybody.”
He’s had almost 50 Top 40 singles in a career spanning more than 50 years. Copacabana is still one of his most popular songs that has stood the test of time and he didn’t expect it to be a hit record at all. “It just exploded by itself… it was the biggest surprise.”
Manilow loves to be connected with his fans, and said strangers say the most beautiful things to him when they approach him on the street, about what an impact his music has made on their lives.
Good news for fans is there is new music on the way. This Is My Town: Songs of New York is Manilow’s latest album, released yesterday.
