Carrie Bickmore broke down in tears live on her radio show as she admitted her fears that her unborn baby will impact the bond her first son currently shares with his younger sister once they’re born.

Appearing on her Hit Network radio show Carrie and Tommy for the final time before her maternity leave, 37-year-old Carrie described how close her son Ollie, 11 – who she welcomed with her late husband Greg Lange before his tragic death from cancer in 2010 – and daughter Evie, three – who she has with TV producer partner Chris Walker – have become.

Struggling to contain her emotions, she was filmed on camera wiping at her eyes as she broke down in front of her co-host, admitting she’s concerned a third baby could disrupt their happy partnership.

“I’m very excited about my expanding family,” she said on air, in a clip shared on the radio show’s official Instagram page. “Ollie thinks we’re having a boy and Evie thinks we’re having a girl so one of them is going to be very disappointed and one very excited.”

Admitting she often becomes emotional when she thinks about her children, she went on: “They’re so cute together.”

“They’re a little team,” she added. “He [Ollie] never thought he was going to get a baby brother or sister and then he got a little sister and they’re seven years apart and they’re joined at the hip… And I know families of three and I know they’ll all love each other so much, but I don’t want anything to happen to their bond. So it makes me a little sad.”

It came after The Project star reflected on her kids’ bond on Instagram shortly before the show, by sharing two photos side by side of them cuddling and playing together.

She captioned the photos: “Love watching these two do life together. Despite the 7 year gap they are so close. I am laying in bed at 6.30pm (gotta love maternity leave!) thinking about how their relationship might change a little when number 3 arrives. Hope they stay super close.”

It comes after Carrie previously opened up about how much Ollie reminds her of her late husband in a moving interview on ABC’s Anh’s Brush with Fame in August. She said she’ll sometimes catch a glimpse of her son from behind and get swept back to seeing her husband in the same position.

Greg lost his battle with brain cancer in December 2010, leaving his loving wife and their son. Now, Carrie has gone on to set up her charity Beanies 4 Brain Cancer in his memory.

Did you share Carrie’s fear when you welcomed another child? Did it affect the siblings’ relationship?
