Melania trumps the Easter Bunny at annual event

The Easter Bunny visited the White House.

While all eyes were on the hunt for the Easter Bunny it was First Lady Melania Trump that attracted a lot of attention on the weekend.

It was the 139th annual White House Easter Egg Roll but the first for both President Donald Trump and Melania.

Joining the Easter Bunny on the White House balcony, both spoke to the crowds gathered below.

“As we renew this tradition, thank you for joining us. On behalf of the President and Barron, we wish you great fun and beautiful days coming ahead of us,” Melania said, looking stunning in a long flowing soft pink dress.

Melania had a big part in the planning of the event. Her communications director told CNN she wanted to get back to the tradition, so they brought back traditional elements, like military bands, and focusing on the family itself.

Those traditional elements include the egg roll, an egg dying station, a cookie decorating station, an art wall, a thank-you card station where children could write to troops and veterans.

During the event Melania took time out to stop in the reading nook, to read to children. Even White House press secretary Sean Spicer got in the act.

But it was during the playing of the anthem that Melania nudged her way into the hearts of many, with a subtle reminder to husband Trump to place his hand over his heart.
