It’s Murphy’s Law: You’ve just heated up your dinner, or made a cup of coffee, walked across metres of tiles or floorboards, and as soon as you’ve hit the tiny carpeted area of your house you drop it and spill.
On the one hand, at least the carpet saved your plate or cup from getting broken. On the other, you now have a big, ugly stain across your no doubt lightly coloured carpet.

Not to worry though! You don’t need one of the expensive carpet stain removers sold in the cleaning aisle, rather just this simple mixture made up of three common household ingredients. Use this hack next time you find yourself in this messy situation.
All you will need is two-parts white vinegar, one part dishwashing liquid, and two parts water. Mix the ingredients together, and then use a sponge, cloth, or paper towel to blot the stain with the mixture. Be sure to blot and not rub, as rubbing will cause the carpet to pill.
Continue the process until the stain is gone, and then pour a little water over the area and blot it away. Allow to dry, and then vacuum over the area. You won’t be able to tell where the stain was!
Remember, it’s best to get to the stain while it’s fresh, so don’t be tempted to put it off and deal with it tomorrow when it’s set in and harder to clean.
