Robert Irwin proved he’s definitely following in his father’s footsteps, during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night.

The budding conservationist, introduced the audience and Jimmy to four “fascinating” species from across the globe, but, before he gushed on about the animals, Jimmy asked him about his dad’s recent honour on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“It was such an amazing honour. A really true honour for us, because he’s one of the only conservationist honoured on the walk of fame. So it’s great to continue his message and really keep his dream alive,” Robert said.

Robert first introduced Jimmy to six African pygmy goats — each named after a cast member from Friends and a kookaburra, named ‘Kookie’.

“How awesome are they?” Robert asked. “They’re quite fascinating animals, I love them.”

He then went on to explain that kookaburras are like alarm clocks back in Australia, adding: “they make these really loud calls”.

After that he taught the comedian about capybaras – the largest rodents in the world, weighing in at 100lbs (45kg). Robert brought Javier on stage and the duo fed him corn.

“He’s got huge teeth, massive teeth,” Robert explained. “They never stop growing. They eat grass, they can go through 8lbs (3.5kg) of grass a day. Isn’t that wild?”

And they weren’t the only critters to appear on-camera during the episode. The animal lover introduced Jimmy to Curly, the American alligator and fussed about the amazing species of the animal.

Enlisting the help of his sister, Bindi, and his mother Terri, the Irwin family held the alligator as Robert enthusiastically explained fascinating facts about the predator.

“My dad called them frogs with sharp teeth. He’s so cute, I love him,” he said. “He’s an American alligator – look at the size of him. They’re really nice, very cool. And you can see, they do sort of look like a frog.”

Robert added: “They’re really cute. But in those jaws… they’ve got really high jaw pressure. They’ll clamp down, they won’t let go. It’s amazing. They’re really sweet though. You can feel he’s got those soft little hands, beautiful little eyes, he’s got that little smile.”

The 14-year-old then bent down to give Curly a kiss on the head, before asking Jimmy,”Do you want to give him a kiss?”

“Oh my goodness, oh my, no! My gosh, I love it so much,” Jimmy said, before changing his mind. “Alright, I’ll give one.”

Steve Irwin, was tragically killed after a stingray barb pierced him in the heart back in 2006.

How much is he like his Dad?! Are you a fan of the Irwins?
