Gospel choirs are having a bit of a moment right now thanks to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bold choice to feature one of Britain’s best in their wedding last month, and it looks like the world is still loving the soulful sound, with one group making it all the way to the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent.

The De Montfort University Gospel Choir absolutely nailed their performance with foot-stomping medley of Amazing Grace and Joyful Joyful.

The group, somewhat inexplicably, failed to make the final, but earned plenty of praise from the judges and a standing ovation from the crowd.

Judge and comedian David Walliams said described the group as “gospel choir meets James Brown”, while Amanda Holden told them, “it makes me want to go to church. Praise the Lord!”.

Although they didn’t make the final, they’ve won a legion of new fans, with hundreds of Brits flooding social media to call them “pure talent” and “outstanding singers”.

One man even shared a short clip of his daughter clapping along while she watched them on TV.

Despite not making the final, the choir says they’re thankful they got to perform on the national stage and said they were “overwhelmed” by the support they’d received.

Check out their performance and tell us what you think!
