Studio 10 presenter Denise Drysdale will make her way down Ramsay Street in the coming months as she joins the cast of Neighbours for a special guest appearance.

The 69-year-old stepped out from behind the famous Channel 10 panel on Wednesday’s show and down to one of Australia’s most loved television sets to announce the exciting news.

In a live cross during Studio 10, Drysdale joked around with popular Neighbours star Damien Richardson, hinting at their plans to work together before her fellow morning show hosts revealed all.

“It’s a little bit hard but I am very, very excited about it,” she admitted to the Studio 10 presenters.

“We’ve known about Neighbours for years and years and years, and I’ve been around for as long as the show has, so to be finally doing a part on it is just quite an honour.”

Unfortunately Drysdale is sworn to secrecy and can’t reveal her character or how she will impact the show, but the two-time Gold Logie winner said it has been a challenge to step into the new role.

“I’m nervous, I’ve been to the toilet twice already,” she said with a laugh. “I’m worried about remembering the lines.”

Calming her nerves and ensuring she will be very much a star on the show, Richardson said he is excited to work alongside Drysdale.

“It’s going to be great working with Denise, I get to work with quite a few icons on this show and Denise will be another one I can put in the kit bag,” he exclaimed.

It hasn’t all been good news for the morning show presenter lately, who admitted only last week she has struggled with Aussie comedy icon Ernie Sigley’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

Speaking with the Herald Sun, Drysdale shared details of an emotional visit she made to her fellow co-star.

“I went to see him a couple of months ago and I sang him the whole of ‘Hey Paula’ (their duet that went to No.1 in 1974). He stood and looked at me, got a bit emotional and gave me a big cuddle,” she revealed.
