Barbra Streisand has never been US President Donald Trump’s biggest fan and regularly slams his policies on social media to her thousands of followers.
However, she has now taken that dislike to a whole new level as she’s released a song aimed solely at criticising him – questioning how he sleeps at night and warning him: “Everyone answers to someone.”
Her new single ‘Don’t Lie to Me’ appears on her upcoming album Walls, with lyrics including: “How do you sleep when the world keeps turning?/ All that we built has come undone,” before adding: “How do you sleep when the world is burning?”
More lyrics go on: “Why can’t you just tell me the truth?” And: “How can you win if we all lose?”
While she doesn’t name the president directly, Streisand has reportedly confirmed to Vogue that it is written about him.
“I just can’t stand what’s going on,” she told the Associated Press. “His assault on our democracy, our institutions, our founders – I think we’re in a fight. We’re in a war for the soul of America.”
The music legend regularly tweets her dislike for Trump, taking particular aim at his migration policies – with celebrities including Bette Midler, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon and more sharing their support on social media.

She recently wrote on Twitter: “He’d sooner quash free speech than accept reality; this is the worst presidency in history.”
Thrilled to announce that my new album WALLS is coming out Nov 2nd including a song I co-wrote, “Don’t Lie To Me,” which is out now. This collection of songs reflects what’s been on my mind lately, and I look forward to sharing that with you. #BarbraWalls https://t.co/WXGXXBlchp pic.twitter.com/tmAdIYcBgm

Meanwhile, sharing a link to her new single on Twitter recently, Streisand wrote: “Thrilled to announce that my new album WALLS is coming out Nov 2nd including a song I co-wrote, “Don’t Lie To Me,” which is out now. “I just went ballistic,” she admitted to AP. “I’m a kind of fierce American. I don’t know who we are anymore as a country. Are we embracing people who flee oppression? Or are we separating children from parents, putting them in cages?”
It’s not the first time Streisand has slammed Trump in a song and in the run-up to the 2016 election, she performed a parody version of Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Send in the Clowns’ at a Hillary Clinton fundraiser – directing the lyrics solely at him.
