It has been almost a year since Barnaby Joyce stepped down as deputy prime minister and leader of the National party, after the news broke that he was expecting a child with former staffer Vikki Campion.
The pair welcomed son Sebastian Curtis Scott Joyce in April last year, with the tot making his TV debut during an episode of Channel Seven’s Sunday Night program in June, earning the family a $150,000 payday.
Now the couple are said to be expecting their second baby boy together, according to reports in The Sunday Mail.
Reports suggest that the couple’s second child is due in June, when Sebastian will be 14-months old, as a source told the newspaper: “Another boy is due in June this year. The name is already picked out — Thomas, after Barney’s grandfather.”
The source also claimed that Timothy, the name of Joyce’s brother who sadly died last year, will also be included.
The newspaper backed their claims with an image showing Campion carrying her young son, with what appeared to be a visible pregnancy bump. However the MP is yet to publicly confirm the reports.
If the claims are true, the baby will be the pollie’s sixth child as Joyce shares four daughters with his ex-wife Natalie, who spoke out and said she was “devastated” after her husband’s affair became public.
Joyce and Campion have barely been out of the headlines since news of their affair broke last year after The Daily Telegraph ran an image of Campion sporting a baby bump on their front page.
The former media advisor used her TV debut as Joyce’s official partner in June to apologise for the hurt caused by their affair.
“I never intended for any of this to happen,” she told Sunday Night presenter Alex Cullen. “I never intended for anyone to be hurt, and I’m really sorry.” While Joyce insisted that his partner shouldn’t be seen as a ‘scarlet woman’ over her part in the affair. “it takes two to tango,” he said.
