‘Old friends’ take home massive $1M lotto win with same numbers used for decade

A group of old friends have walked away hundreds of thousands of dollars richer after winning almost $1 million between them over the weekend in a lucky lotto draw.

The decade-long private syndicate scored the division one prize pool in the Saturday night TattsLotto, winning a whopping $989,632.50. Sharing in the excitement with the official lotto group on Monday morning, the syndicate leader couldn’t contain his joy at the thought of breaking the news to his friends.

“Wow! Wow! Wow! That’s fantastic! This is a very good phone call,” he told them happily. “This is a syndicate we’ve been running between a group of old friends for years and years and years. You’ve completely made my day. I can’t wait to phone my friends and tell them! They will be happy!”

The overjoyed winner explained the syndicate had been running for over a decade and have used the same numbers since the beginning in hopes that one day they would win. He said the news had “made his day” and claimed the money would go a long way in helping them relieve financial pressures as well as treating themselves.

“I’ve been telling them for years we’ll win it one day!” the winner exclaimed. “I’ll use my share to pay off some bills and I’m sure my wife will want to spend some of it too!”

The exciting announcement follows news earlier this month that an Aussie grandmother scored a whopping $200,000 in the Lucky Lottery Mega jackpot draw – just weeks after claiming the same amount in another lotto prize. The woman from the Melbourne suburb of Eltham admitted at the time she was “completely stunned” after winning the massive prize, a mere 38 days after walking away with another $200,000. She explained how she hoped the money will help secure her dream of spending more time with her daughter.

Sharing her disbelief with lotto officials, the grandmother – who wished to remain anonymous – said she was “blown away” by the discovery, claiming it will relieve a lot of financial pressure from her life.
