Comedian Jerry Stiller, best known for his recurring role as Frank Costanza on the hit television show Seinfeld, has passed away at the age of 92 from natural causes. His actor son Ben Stiller shared the heartbreaking news with fans on Monday.

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben wrote on Twitter alongside an image of his father. “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

Since the sad news was revealed, tributes have poured in for the legendary comedian with Jerry Seinfield posting a photo of himself holding The Last Two People in the World, a 1967 comedy album recorded by Stiller and his wife Anne Meara.

Meanwhile, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who played Elaine Benes on Seinfield, posted a clip of old bloopers from the sitcom on Twitter.

Many fans also took to Twitter to share their condolences, with one writing: “Sad day. I’ll be watching some reruns of Seinfeld today!”

Another commented: “An unbelievably hilarious man.” While a third said: “My condolences, Ben. A tough and sad time – especially just now.” Another said: “Jerry brought so much laughter to us all, just as you do. I just watched Heavyweights the other evening — one of my favorites. May he Rest In Peace.”

Ben later thanked everyone for their support, tweeting: “Thanks so much for the incredible outpouring of love and appreciation for Jerry. I know how much it would mean to him.”

Jerry began his career alongside his late wife Anne Meara in the 1950s. His other roles included Arthur Spooner in the popular sitcom The King of Queens. He also appeared in a number of comedies with his famous son, including Zoolander, Zoolander 2 and The Heartbreak Kid. However, it’s fair to say his most memorable role was playing George Costanza’s highly-strung father. His role as Frank Costanza saw him nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1997.
