The mother of one of two Canadian teens wanted over the suspected murder of Australian man Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend has penned a desperate letter pleading for both boys to come home safe.
A manhunt is currently under way in Canada for Bryer Schmegelsky, 18, and Kam McLeod, 19, who were formally charged for the murder of a third man, Leonard Dyck, from Vancouver on Wednesday.
They are also suspected of shooting Fowler and his girlfriend Chynna Deese, although no charges have yet been brought in relation to their deaths.
Now Bryer’s mother, Deborah Sweeney, has spoken out for the first time in an emotional letter, obtained by the Daily Mail, claiming her son “would never hurt anyone”.

“Please read this for me. Please. Please,” she wrote, according to the news outlet.
“Bryer is a careing, loveing [sic] boy, that would never hurt anyone. He grew up in a loveing [sic] home. WE miss, and love him dearly. WE want both boys to come home safe.”

It comes after the teen’s father, Alan Schmegelsky, voiced fears the manhunt will end in a police shootout.
According to The Australian, the distraught father told Canadian press on Wednesday that his son was “going to be dead today or tomorrow”.
“He’s on a suicide mission. He wants his pain to end,” he reportedly said. “Basically, he’s going to be dead today or tomorrow. I know that. Rest in peace, Bryer. I love you. I’m so sorry all this had to happen.”
“He wants his hurt to end,” he added. “They’re going to go out in a blaze of glory. Trust me on this. That’s what they’re going to do.”

The teens are suspects in the deaths of Fowler, 23, and his partner Deese, 24, who were discovered on a remote stretch of the Alaska Highway on July 15 around 20km from the popular Liard Hot Springs after being shot.
Canadian police confirmed the couple were travelling together in a Blue 1986 Chevrolet van with Alberta licence plates before their deaths.
Meanwhile, it comes after heartbreaking footage of the murdered couple’s last moments alive was revealed earlier this week. In the video, taken at a petrol station in Fort Nelson in British Columbia, Fowler and Deese can be seen embracing and sharing a loving hug near their vehicle.
