Young man plans to pay off family’s mortgages with massive $36M lotto win

Three lucky Australians are $36 million dollars richer after winning a share of the whopping $110M Powerball jackpot on Thursday night.

However, just one of the winners has been identified so far with the other two from New South Wales and Victoria yet to come forward to claim their prize.

Speaking about the shock win last night after receiving a call from officials a young Adelaide man claimed he was shaking with excitement after learning he had become a multi-millionaire.

“Wow,” he eventually said after a moment of stunned silence. “Thank you so much! That is incredible. I can’t believe it. I am shaking so much. This is going to change so many lives!”

The winner, who has remained anonymous, explained he wasn’t expecting the life-changing news but did have some ideas as to how he wanted to spend his new fortune.

The Adelaide resident said he would shout his family a holiday overseas, potentially a round-the-world trip via first class, help to pay off their mortgages and donate some to charity.

As for whether the winner would be going back to work, he joked he was contemplating drafting his resignation letter immediately.

“I might quit my job,” he said with a laugh.

“I don’t know, I’m still in shock! I just can’t wait to get off the phone so I can call my family and tell them the news. I don’t know if they’ll even believe me!”

Meanwhile, lottery officials are yet to make contact with the other two winners, one from Victoria and one from NSW, and are urging all players in these states to check their tickets.

“The division one winning entry from Victoria is unregistered, which means we don’t have any way of contacting the winner to break the life-changing news and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize,” spokesperson for the Lott Bronwyn Spencer explained.

“While the New South Wales entry was purchased online, unfortunately, we don’t have their complete contact details so we are unable to make a mind-blowing phone call to them this evening.

“That is why we are encouraging everyone in New South Wales and Victoria to check their entries because they may be the multi-millionaires we are searching for!”

In addition to the three division one winners, a total of 3,519,175 prizes worth more than $60.4 million were won in divisions two to nine.

The winning numbers in Powerball were 6, 13, 1, 11, 23, 27 and 16, while the all-important Powerball was 11.
