If you’ve ever purchased a car, chances are you put a lot of thought into the colour you choose. After all, you’ll be driving around in your pride and joy for many years and you probably don’t want to be getting from point a to point b in a car that isn’t a colour you like.

Car manufacturer Holden has teamed up with Angela Wright, author of The Beginner’s Guide to Colour Psychology and the founder of London-based consultancy Colour Affects, to uncover the kinds of car colours that align with different personality types. According to Wright, it’s our personalities that can push us to purchase an item in a certain colour over another. Yep, you read that right.

“Specific personality types have an affinity with certain colours that can influence purchase decisions for anything from clothes to cars,” Wright said in a statement.

And if you’re the kind of person who’s impartial to a little voodoo, Wright can tell you a lot about your personality based on the colour of your car.

Apparently if your car is white, it could mean that you’re a peacekeeper. You’re usually open-minded, optimistic and hopeful, while the colour also signifies purity and is a popular choice when people are celebrating a new beginning.

In contrast, black is for professionals who are reliable, pragmatic and stable and is often associated with power and sophistication. According to Wright, it is normally a colour picked by someone of authority who is serious, sophisticated and decisive.
