Goldie Hawn a grandmother again as daughter Kate reveals unusual name

Goldie Hawn has become a grandmother again after her actress daughter Kate Hudson gave birth to a baby girl.

Kate, 39, and her partner Danny Fujikawa welcomed their daughter on Tuesday before revealing their unusual name for her in a sweet Instagram post – and their choice is a moving tribute to Danny’s father.

Captioning the post, which was a short slideshow of written messages on Instagram, Kate simply wrote: “She’s here.” She revealed they had chosen the name Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, with Rani pronounced as “Ronnie”, in a nod to their daughter’s granddad Ron Fujikawa.

Kate explained: “We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly.

“To name her after him is an honour. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent out way and we send ours right back.”

While Rani is the pair’s first baby together, Kate already has sons Ryder Russell, 14, and seven-year-old Bingham Hawn, from previous relationships.

Rani is Goldie, 72, and husband Kurt Russell’s sixth grandchild. They also have two grandsons and a granddaughter thanks to Kate’s brother, Oliver Hudson, 41.

Speaking about being a grandma previously, Goldie told Closer magazine: “A good family is the answer to happiness… I look at our kids and grandkids and there’s nothing in the world that could make me as proud as I am of all of them.”

Kate first announced she was pregnant again in April when she took to her social media page to reveal she was having a daughter. Stood in her garden in a pretty white dress, she was seen piercing a balloon to reveal dozens of smaller pink balloons inside.

“SURPRISE!!! If you’ve wondered why I’ve been so absent on my social channels it’s because I have never been more sick!” Kate told fans at the time.

“We have been trying to keep this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I’m a poppin now! And it’s too darn challenging to hide, and frankly hiding is more exhausting then just coming out with it! My kids, Danny, myself and the entire family are crazy excited! A little girl on the way.”
