With Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas as parents, Carys Douglas was always likely to live her life in the spotlight. However, it wasn’t just her parents’ fame that drew difficult attention for her at school.

Now, actress Catherine, 48, has supported her mini-me daughter in a stunning joint magazine shoot, as Carys opened up about the impact her father’s age had on her when she was younger.

Speaking in the September issue of Town & Country magazine, Carys, 15, admitted she was bullied over Michael’s age and the difference in ages between both of her parents.

“People would be like ‘Your grandpa’s here to pick you up’,” she told the magazine of her 73-year-old father.

Meanwhile, she admitted she’s considered changing her surname for good so she’s not always associated with her parents, and can carve her own career without living in their shadows.

“When I was younger I didn’t like the idea of having this name attached to me, this kind of ‘Douglas dynasty’ stuff,” she added.

Admitting she constantly feels the need to prove herself, she went on: “I think what bothers me the most is that people think I don’t work hard for it, that I don’t need to work hard for it. Honestly, I feel like it’s the opposite.”

She was supported during the interview by her Hollywood star mum, and the pair posed on the cover together in a close embrace. While Carys wore a red floral dress, Catherine opted for a polka-dot red outfit with both of them wearing their matching brunette locks loose.

Carys recently began accompanying her mum to a series of fashion events, and they were both recently pictured at an event in New York posing hand-in-hand in front of cameras.

Catherine wasn’t afraid to risk an eye roll from her teenage daughter as she stepped out in her skimpy dress. Showing off her figure, the actress stunned in a black lace dress with a see-through skirt and corset-style top.

While it’s not uncommon for teenagers to be embarrassed by their mums, Carys appeared delighted to spend the evening out with her and smiled for the cameras in an off-the-shoulder floral top, black high-waisted skinny jeans and heels – making her tower next to her actress mum.

The pair only make rare public appearances together, but they were snapped last September at another fashion show in New York, signalling Carys has an early interest in the modelling industry. Catherine confirmed her daughter has a keen eye for fashion shortly after that event, and said she’s interested in a career in the limelight.

“She wants to get into the business in all its capacity. She is a wonderful actress and wonderful singer and pianist but she loves fashion,” the Hollywood star said at the time.

Of course, there’s no better mentor than your own mum, and Catherine has been offering Carys some handy advice. She added to E! News: “She’s very head strong in her career. A doctor has always been in the cards but acting is her passion and I’ve schooled them that the business is broad these days and you’ve got to go out there knowing that there’s critiques.”
