We know nothing quite beats the real thing, but one mum’s recipe for a two-ingredient vanilla slice in the shape of Christmas trees has sent the Internet into a frenzy.
Linda Špadina shared her super simple recipe to the Christmas Mums Facebook group where it got the big thumbs up from fellow parents. The mum explained the dessert was made with just two ingredients — slices of pre-made puff pastry and Aeroplane’s famous Vanilla Dessert Mix, which is available at Coles.
“Made Christmas Tree Vanilla Slice today… so delicious,” she wrote. “Lost count how many I ate. I used Aeroplane’s Dessert Mix and puff pastry. I’ll be adding this to my dessert platter on Christmas Day. So easy to make.”
Linda explained she cooked the bottom layer a little bit less so it wasn’t quite as puffed-up as the top ones and pressed it down with her hands to flatten it.
The group’s other followers praised the mum for her tasty Christmas hack, with one person commenting: “Thanks for sharing this, will be trying it for sure. Merry Christmas.” Another said: “They look so delicious and cute!!” While a third wrote: “I was just looking for a dessert to make for a lunch on Sunday, this looks perfect.”
