The Brady Bunch house is for sale and photos show it hasn’t changed a bit

For Baby Boomers growing up in the 1960s and ‘70s, The Brady Bunch was likely a huge part of many of their childhoods.

The beloved sitcom – which saw Mike Brady and his three charming sons Greg, Peter and Bobby move into a gorgeous house with Carol and her three blonde daughters Marcia, Jan and Cindy – remains one of the world’s favourite TV shows after all these years.

With the help of charismatic housemaid Alice, The Brady Bunch was the all-American family that children all over the world wanted to be part of. Most of the shenanigans of course happened at the Brady house, which is still standing tall in Los Angeles.

After almost half a century, the beloved home, located on Dilling Street in Studio City, California, is back on the market. Being home to one of America’s favourite fictional families has also increased the price tag of the house. It’s selling for US$1,885,000 (AU$2,548,623, UK£1,449,753), according to real estate agent Ernie Carswell and Partners.

The house is said to be the second most photographed home in the United States after the White House and is still complete with its perfectly preserved ‘70s décor. Unfortunately for fans of the show, the internal scenes were actually shot in a Hollywood film studio, so the inside of the house doesn’t look anything like the home the Bradys lived in.

This means potential buyers won’t be able to race down the iconic staircase, run wild in the backyard or indulge in an Alice-style creation in the kitchen.

Still, it borders the famous Los Angeles River and includes two master suites, generous entertaining spaces and an enormous backyard, garden and lawn. And despite the hefty price tag, there has already been plenty of interest in the home.

Actor and singer Lance Bass originally thought he’d purchased the home over the weekend after placing a winning bid. Posting on Twitter, the former NSYNC singer said he placed a bid way over the asking price.

“This was a dream come true for me and I spent the night celebrating amongst friends, family and fans alike,” he wrote in a statement.

“The next day, due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ the same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer (Hollywood studio) who wants the house at any cost.”

Bass said he was prepared to go higher, but said he wouldn’t be able to compete with the corporate buyer. No word yet on who the mystery buyer is.
