About Beryl Barrett

After attending high school in Herberton, on the Atherton Tableland, Beryl trained as a teacher at Teachers Training College at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane. Her first posting was Mount Garnet at 17 years of age. Beryl taught all around Queensland for the state’s education department including Mount Isa, Mary Valley and finished up retiring from Mount Gravatt State School after 53 years in her chosen profession. She had two boys, one is an engineer in Mount Isa and the younger one a financial advisor in Brisbane. After the boys were educated Beryl began travelling and after her retirement in 2008, she was able to really work on her wish list, visiting many parts of the world. Beryl was encouraged to publish a few of her travel experiences throughout the ‘no travel’ time of Covid-19.
