  • Share a short video showcasing your comedy: a funny joke, trick, story or standup routine. 
  • No experience necessary! Whether you’re a seasoned comedian or simply love making friends and family laugh, all Aussies aged 55+ are welcome.
  • Three finalists will be flown to Brisbane to perform live at the inaugural Starts at 60 Comedy Festival and compete for the title of Australia’s Funniest Boomer – plus a cruise holiday!*

Ready to take part?

  1. Prepare your best material: Dust off your favourite jokes, stories, and one-liners. Originality is key!
  2. Submit your entry: Use the form below to sign up and submit a short video (maximum 2 minutes) showcasing your comedic work. Entries close Wednesday, 31 January 2024.
  3. Rally your fans: All shortlisted entries will be published on startsat60.com. One “People’s Choice” finalist will be selected based on the number of votes received from the general public. The other two finalists will be chosen by Starts at 60’s panel of judges.
  4. Perform live: The final 3 contestants will head to Brisbane in September 2024 — flights and accommodation provided* — to battle it out live and loud on stage as part of the inaugural Starts at 60 Comedy Festival. (Stay tuned for exciting details and special guests to be announced.)
  5. Enjoy the ultimate bragging right: Our panel of judges will select a winner based on their outstanding performance, originality and audience engagement. Not only will you get to say you are Australia’s Funniest Boomer; you’ll also enjoy a mini-suite cabin on a P&O cruise from Sydney on 11 April 2025.*

*This competition is organised by Starts at 60 Pty Ltd (Level 1, 20 Hockings Street, West End, Qld 4101). The competition commences on 9 November 2023 and ends at 11.59pm (Queensland time) on 31 January 2024. Entries are open to all Australian residents born in 1965 or earlier. To enter, contestants must submit their video entry and personal details by following the instructions in the form above. Finalist Number 1 will be chosen as voted on by the general public via Startsat60.com. Finalists 2 and 3 will be chosen by Starts at 60’s panel of judges based on comedic talents, originality, relevance or interest to the Baby Boomer audience, comedic delivery and funny content. Finalists will be announced on Starts at 60 platforms on 02 February 2024. Finalists will be provided with one return ticket from nearest capital in Australia to Brisbane, plus accommodation in a hotel provided by Starts at 60, in time for the Starts at 60 Comedy Festival in September 2024. All finalists will have the opportunity to perform on stage to compete for the symbolic title of ‘Australia’s Funniest Boomer’. The winner will be selected by a Starts at 60 panel of judges, announced at the end of the Starts at 60 Comedy Festival, and will receive a prize of a P&O cruise for two people in a Mini-Suite cabin, leaving Sydney on 11 April 2025.
