A discreet Prince William has made a subtle remark regarding the Queen’s potential upcoming Platinum Jubilee appearance for the special Trooping of the Colour event.

The Duke of Cambridge made the remark during a recent speech at Windsor Castle where he was tasked with representing the new colour to the Irish Guards on Tuesday, May 17.

According to Nine, William took much pleasure in being tasked with the military honour, “which is actually flag representative of their regiment within the British Army – to the 1st Battalion ahead of the Trooping of the Colour next month”.

William acknowledged the loyalty of the Irish Guards before dropping the subtle remark.

“In this historic Platinum Jubilee year, we rightly celebrate your many achievements,” he said.

“I know that Her Majesty is looking forward to seeing these new colours trooped during her official birthday celebration parade next month.

“I am honoured as your Colonel, to be representing Her Majesty the Queen today, and to present your tenth set of new colours in the Platinum Jubilee year of the Queen, your Colonel-in-Chief.

“It has been 13 years since Her Majesty presented you with the colours that have just been marched off parade.”

The remark comes as a welcomed delight for fans and supporters of the Monarch who have been increasingly concerned for the state of the Queen’s health over recent months.

Just last week, the Palace announced that Her Majesty would not be in attendance at the State Opening of Parliament, stating “episodic mobility problems” as the reason for her unfortunate absence, which marked the first time since 1963 that the Monarch had missed the major event.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen’s absence in a statement issued on Monday, May 9.

“The Queen continues to experience episodic mobility problems, and in consultation with her doctors has reluctantly decided that she will not attend the State Opening of Parliament,” the statement read.

“At Her Majesty’s request, and with the agreement of the relevant authorities, The Prince of Wales will read The Queen’s speech on Her Majesty’s behalf, with The Duke of Cambridge also in attendance.”

Despite the Queen’s many absences of late, she has recently made a return to the spotlight with a number of public engagements over the last week.

On Friday, May 13, the Queen made her first public appearance since Prince Phillip’s memorial as she appeared in high spirits as she arrived at the Royal Windsor Horse Show held on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Her Majesty was all smiles as she was pictured looking lively and well at the exclusive equestrian event.

The Monarch also made a surprise appearance at the recent opening ceremony of the Elizabeth Line at London’s Paddington station.

With the aid of her walking stick, Her Majesty was accompanied by Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, and welcomed to the ceremony by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the London mayor, Sadiq Khan.
