Meghan has ended her luxury trip to New York by flying back to the UK in style by private jet, just hours after she enjoyed a lavish baby shower with some of her closest friends.
The heavily pregnant duchess was snapped, flanked by bodyguards, clutching her blossoming bump as she left The Park Hotel — which served as the venue for her star-studded baby shower — in Manhattan on Wednesday night.
Meghan wrapped up against the winter weather in a stylish camel coat, which she paired with a casual and tight-fitting tracksuit and trainers, with a large leather handbag. The royal, who is in the United States without her husband of nine-months Prince Harry, was seemingly attempting to go incognito as she donned a baseball cap.
She later boarded a Gulfstream G450 twin jet plane, which is believed to have cost US$125,000 (AU$174,583) for the six-hour journey back to the UK, according to The Daily Mail. The mother-to-be is also thought to have arrived in New York via private jet, meaning Meghan’s travel for the six-day trip may have cost a staggering US$250,000.
Meanwhile, her accommodation for five nights at The Mark Hotel came to a reported US$9,982. According to the publication, Kensington Palace confirmed on Monday that Meghan’s travel for the trip had been “privately funded”.
Earlier in the day, Meghan’s pals, including several of her former Suits co-stars, planned an elaborate baby shower for the 37-year-old expectant mother. Her crew included Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, close friend Jessica Mulroney and makeup artist Daniel Martin, who did Meghan’s stunning natural makeup on her wedding day.
According to HELLO!, the intimate event took place in the penthouse of The Mark Hotel — which reportedly costs US$75,000 a night and spans two floors with five bedrooms, six bathrooms and two powder rooms.
Meanwhile, in the lead-up to the lavish event, a wide variety of items were seen being brought into the hotel, including a US$140 mandarin tree, a US$379 convertible crib, a children’s bicycle believed to be worth around US$610, a US$199.99 cotton candy machine and a batch of carry-on suitcases worth US$3,825, the news outlet reports.
It comes after the duchess met up with friends the evening before at Ralph Lauren’s luxury restaurant the Polo Bar, which reportedly cost US$420 for five people. Meghan also enjoyed a US$78 lunch at The Surrey hotel in Manhattan and a US$25 afternoon tea for two at French luxury bakery Laduree during her trip, according to The Daily Mail,
Elsewhere, she reportedly also forked out an extra US$86,316 for two royal protection officers, and a $625 harp player on her arrival — bringing the total cost of the getaway to more than half a million dollars.
