Patti Newton, widow of late TV legend Bert Newton, has taken a social media to share a bittersweet tribute to her late husband on what would have been his 85th birthday.

On Sunday, July 23, the  78-year-old performer who had been married to Bert for 47 years until his passing in October 2021 at the age of 83, posted a previously unreleased photo on Instagram showing the couple affectionately cuddling.

“Miss you everyday my beautiful man. Happy Birthday always in our hearts ❤️ love you x,” she capti0ned the post.

Many fans were moved by the photo and took to Patti’s comment section to share their best wishes for the late icon.

“Love story that touches all of Australian’s hearts. Sending all the hugs to you today beautiful Patti, a happy heavenly birthday to your Bert xx.”

“You keep them in your heart forever and always miss them. The price of real love.”

“Happy birthday to such a wonderful gentleman. Sending so much love to you and the family today.”

“Wasn’t he the best of best, there will never be another like him , love to you Patty n ur beautiful family xxxx.”

“Happy birthday in heaven Bert, what a wonderful couple you were always remembered.”

“Happy Heavenly Birthday to your darling Bert. Sending so much love and strength to you all today he will forever be in all your beautiful hearts.”

Patti’s latest tribute comes months after she admitted that she would never re-enter the dating scene, telling 2DAY FM that she will only ever have eyes for her late husband.

“When you have the best, why would you want second best?” she said.

“He was it for me. I fell in love at a very young age and I’ve never looked at anyone else. I’ve never even kissed anyone else.”

Since his passing, Patti has made a constant effort to honour the memory of her late husband. Outside her social media tributes, the entertainer also built a “Bert Newton museum” in their family home.

“You should see it now. It is definitely a shrine. You walk in there and there are all of his hats in there,” Patti told Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O last September.

“I built this new room for him, which he never actually got to see, but in there I put up his Logies – but instead of 36, there are only 17 in the room, because he gave them out.

“I don’t know who else has got his Logies, but he was a very generous man.”
