“Just look at that face.” Karl Stefanovic gave an emotional presentation on The Today Show this morning, reporting on the Manchester terror attack at the Ariana Grande concert and the ‘so many young faces’ seen in the footage.
In the attack by a suicide bomber 22 people died, and over 100 were injured. More than 50 were taken to hospital. Some who attended the concert are still missing.
With three children of his own, the television presented was especially moved by the death of Saffie Rose Roussos, an eight-year-old who was at the concert with her sister and mother, saying “Her whole life was ahead of her.”
Describing the joy for parents in taking their children to concerts, and how they watch their child, not the concert, Karl said ‘the singing, the dancing, the freedom, Saffie won’t ever come home.’ Saffie Rose’s sister and mother are both in hospital. Her mother was last reported as being still unconscious in Manchester hospital, unaware of her daughters death.
ABC news reported that one dad, seeing his 16-year-old daughter safe after the attack described it as like seeing her born again.
The incident result in the third time ever Britain’s terror lever was listed as ‘critical’, with British Prime Minister Theresa May deploying armed troops.
