Aussie superstar Olivia Newton-John has proved just how strong she is, speaking out in an candid interview about how she maintains a positive outlook on life amid her continuous battle with cancer.

Following false news last week that she had just weeks to live, the 70-year-old said she makes sure to keep up an active lifestyle and limit the amount of sweet treats.

Olivia admitted she has always been a “cup half full” kind of person and keeping a positive attitude has really helped her throughout her cancer journey.

“Positive thinking is so important to living a healthy and happy life, no matter what the challenge,” she told Good Health and Wellbeing. “I think just being open to learning and growing through tough times is the way to evolve and become stronger – for yourself and for others.”

The four-time Grammy award winner explained that along with eating a healthy dose of organically grown food, she also tries to get outside as much as possible and be with nature.

“My favourite ways to exercise include swimming and going for long hikes with my husband and my dog. I just love being in nature and tacking in the beautiful countryside,” she said.

Olivia’s latest comments come a week after she was forced to prove she was alive and doing well after news reports wrongly claimed she had just weeks to live.

Radar Online reported that the 70-year-old’s body was shutting down. Shortly after, an array of other news outlets claimed sources close to the iconic entertainer had told them Olivia had just weeks, and not months, to live.

Putting the rumours to bed, a healthy and happy looking Olivia shared a video on her Facebook page the next day, explaining to fans what was really going on with her health.

“Happy New Year everyone,” the Grease star says in the video. “I just want to say that the rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated, to quote a very famous quote.”

She added: “I’m doing great and I just want to wish all of you the happiest, healthiest 2019 that’s possible.”

The singer also thanked her fans for the wonderful love and support. Olivia’s niece Tottie Goldsmith broke her silence the night before surrounding news her aunt’s health. Sharing a photograph of herself with Olivia, Tottie explained that reports of her aunt dying weren’t true.

“Just giving you the heads up that Livvy is in good health, so let’s leave that pathetic rumor [sic] where it belongs,” she wrote.
