Bill Paxton’s name in lights in bizarre fan tribute

Share:
Big tributes for Bill Paxton.

It has to be one of the most unusual tributes to a celebrity.

Storm chasers from all over the world have paid tribute to Twister star Bill Paxton after news broke of his death

Using Spotter Network markets, hundreds of storm chasers lined up, using GPS coordinates on a map, to spell out the stars initials in lights across Kansas and Oklahoma.

It’s not the first time storm chasers have done this, but the first for a celebrity who was not part of the storm chaser community.

In the 1996 movie Twister, Bill, joined by Helen Hunt, led a team of scientists on a dangerous mission to gather more information about the cyclones.

As well as grossing $241 million worldwide, the movie also introduced the topic of storm chasing to the general public.

Bill was even involved in a documentary titled Tornado Alley, and has said he was fascinated with tornadoes after grown up in nearby Texas.

Although the news of Bill’s death came too late to include him in the In Memoriam montage at today’s Academy Awards, Jennifer Aniston, remembered the actor before presenting the segment.

What do you think of this fan tribute idea?
