Tracy Grimshaw, the beloved television presenter who bid farewell to A Current Affair (ACA) less than a year ago, has finally addressed the persistent speculation surrounding her potential return to the popular news and current affairs program.

The rumour mill went into overdrive recently after reports emerged that Grimshaw was considering a comeback and that she was having discussions with network executives about a possible return to the program she helmed for an impressive 17 years.

Although Grimshaw’s return would no doubt be welcomed by her loyal fanbase, the veteran journalist shut down such suggestions in a statement issued on social media.

Grimshaw’s firm denial of any possibility of returning to ACA left fans disappointed yet appreciative of her honesty and dedication to enjoying her retirement.

“Just take it easy now and enjoy life Tracy,” one fan said.

“Even so Tracy, but you are the face of C.A. Sad we lost you.”

“Good on you Tracey for putting things straight!!”

“Just take it easy now and enjoy life Tracy,” commented another.

“Tracy, the good thing about being retired is: Don’t need to Don’t have to Don’t want to! Miss ya heaps, love to have ya back if and when you feel like it!”

Grimshaw surprised viewers when she announced she would be stepping away from the ACA desk during the September 6, 2022 broadcast of the program, explaining that she made the choice to step down and wasn’t “being shoved out the door by the boys club” because she was “too old”.

“Normally right about now we’d be telling you what to expect tomorrow night but lately I’ve personally been thinking longer term, and I have some news that I wanted you to hear from me before you hear it from anyone else,” she told viewers at the time.

“I’ve decided to finish up with A Current Affair this year.

“It’s been a big decision and before the gossip websites start telling you rubbish, I want you to know it’s been my decision alone and I’m not being shoved out the door by the boys club because I’m too old.

“I’m not too old, I’m just a bit tired. And for the record, both the boys and the girls have asked me to stay.

“But I’ve basically been a shift worker for 26 years, driving to work before dawn for 9 years on the Today Show, and the past 17 years driving home after dark here on A Current Affair and it’s time for less of that daily obligation.

“It’s been my privilege to host this show.

“Thank you for your loyalty. I hope I’ve repaid it. I’m around until November then I’m going to take a long holiday, but it’s business as usual until then. See you tomorrow night.”

On Thursday, November 24, 2022, Grimshaw bid a heartfelt farewell to her dedicated fans and cherished crew as she signed off for the last time. Her final episode was filled with emotions, no doubt leaving a lasting impression on those watching at home and those close to the 63-year-old.

Despite the difficulty that came with saying goodbye, Grimshaw managed to deliver a sincere thank you to her audience.

“We are your show and the million of you, who watch every night, know that,” she told viewers.

“Thank you. Without you, there would be no us.

“Soon you’ll all find out who’ll be in this chair next year. Please make them welcome.
