Royal fans can look forward to seeing the beloved Queen Elizabeth once more, as it has been announced that she will be making a brief cameo appearance in a soon-to-be-released blockbuster film.

The producer of Paddington In Peru, Rosie Alison, told Variety that a photograph of the late Queen taking tea with Paddington, which was part of a sketch for her Platinum Jubilee celebrations, will be used in the upcoming film.

The movie, which will be released in Australian cinemas on January 1, 2025, will follow the beloved bear as he journeys to Peru, returning to visit Aunt Lucy, who now lives at the Home for Retired Bears.

“[The royal family] were actually very happy for it to happen,” Alison told Variety.

“But we don’t like to make a big deal of it, because Paddington’s obviously a very modest fellow.”

The late Queen Elizabeth first appeared on screen alongside Paddington during a surprise appearance to honour the Queen for her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

In an adorable skit, Her Majesty and Paddington sat down to enjoy treats and tea before the clumsy bear caused pandemonium – drinking all the tea before offering any to the Monarch and squashing the treats.

Paddington offered The Queen one of his signature marmalade sandwiches hidden in his hat, to make up for the chaos, saying: “I always keep one for emergencies.”

“So do I,” Her Majesty responded, before pulling one out of her purse and grinning at the bear.

The coat and hat-wearing bear then offered The Queen his heartwarming gratitude, removing his hat and saying: “Happy Jubilee, ma’am.”

And thank you, for everything,” Paddington said.

Buckingham Palace released a statement at the time saying The Queen couldn’t resist inviting Paddington to tea, saying the event was “too fun to miss”.

“Her Majesty is well known for her sense of humour, so it should be no surprise that she decided to take part in tonight’s sketch,” the Palace said.

“There was an interest in the filming and animation process and the opportunity to invite a famous bear to tea was just too much fun to miss.”
