Irish singing sensation Sinead O’Connor was a legendary singer-songwriter celebrated for her powerful vocals and fearless attitude.

Her untimely death almost two years ago devastated both fans and those in the music industry who praised her enormous talent and passion for political change.

Now a new report has revealed her surprising wish for her children and how her £1.7 million (AUD 3.38 million) estate will be managed.

The Nothing Compares to You singer died in July 2023 and left her entire estate to her three surviving children while she named ex-husband John Reynolds as executor.

After debts, legal fees, and funeral costs were paid, the estate was reduced to £1.4 million (AUD 2.78 million).

Never one to mince her words, the controversial artist left very specific instructions on how to manage her estate, according to Irish probate records acquired by The Sun newspaper.

“I direct that after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released to ‘milk it for what it’s worth’,” she wrote as per The Sun.

Written prior to her conversion to Islam, the document advised O’Connor’s children to “dispense my ashes as they see fit” and requested that they bury her in priest’s robes with a copy of the Hebrew bible and her album, Theology with her.

The London-based songstress’ death was announced after she was found unresponsive at her London home by first responders.

A year after her passing, a copy of her death certificate was obtained by the Irish Independent newspaper, which confirmed that her death was a result of “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection”.

The Dublin-born icon left a lasting impact on the world of music. Her journey began with the release of the critically acclaimed debut album, The Lion and the Cobra, in 1987, followed by the groundbreaking success of I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got in 1990 which featured the iconic hit Nothing Compares 2 U.

Over the years, she released ten studio albums, among them, Am I Not Your Girl? in 1992 and Universal Mother in 1994 achieved the coveted gold status in the UK, while Faith and Courage in 2000 received gold recognition in Australia, and Throw Down Your Arms in 2005 earned gold certification in Ireland.

Her unapologetic approach to addressing spirituality, activism, socio-political issues, and personal struggles endeared her to fans worldwide.
