Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has tested positive for Covid-19 only days after her husband Prince Charles, returned a positive result for the virus.

A spokesperson for Clarence House announced, “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating … We continue to follow government guidelines.”

Upon the news of Prince Charles’s positive result on Thursday, February 10, the Duchess had tested for the virus and received a negative result. This will be the first time the Duchess has contracted the virus, despite her husband now having caught it twice. Charles had previously tested positive for the virus in March 2020, saying he had been “lucky” to have only experienced mild symptoms.

Camilla, 74, had attended multiple charity events in the days before testing positive and the relevant charities have since been notified of the Duchess’s positive result. She and Prince Charles, 73, are currently isolating at their official London residence of Clarence House.

Despite the recent news of Charles’s positive result, the Duchess had been given permission by the Palace to attend three public events, including visits to Thames Valley Partnership in Buckinghamshire, Haven Paddington Sexual Assault Referral Centre in London, and Nourish Hub community kitchen in Shephard’s Bush.

Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth met with each other at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, February 8, just two days before his positive result, where he is said to have met with people who had been recognised on a twice-annual honours list.

Despite this, the Palace has revealed that Queen is not showing symptoms of the virus and that she was undergoing regular monitoring from doctors.

Recently, the Queen has been busy engaging in numerous Platinum Jubilee celebrations and is looking forward to her 95th birthday on the April 21, 2022.

Fans have held particular concern for the Queen’s health since October 2021, when she was advised by doctors to rest.
