Usain Bolt may be the fastest man alive, but he thinks that some other people should move a bit faster in their personal lives. In particular, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
According to an article in The Sun, Usain Bolt “became friends with the prince during his 2012 Caribbean tour” and is close enough to the ginger royal that he feels comfortable suggesting plans for a future bachelor party.
“He has always been a happy guy, but I’ve not seen him so happy since he’s been with Meghan. We were at a wedding earlier this year. You have never seen a man with such a smile on his face—and it wasn’t my jokes that put it there,” the recently-retired sprinter said.
While it’s been just under a year since Harry and Markle’s relationship was officially reported, they made their first official public appearance together—an indication, for the royal family, that this is something pretty serious.
Bolt reportedly believes that his home nation of Jamaica would be the perfect place for a royal engagement to take place.
“Come on, there is no more beautiful place in the world to propose than Jamaica. I am going to suggest it to him,” Bolt said.
“He knows I want to plan [his bachelor party]. I can make things happen in Jamaica. I can get the most beautiful beach closed off for him. I’m going to text him and plant that little seed.”
While Bolt’s comments may be nothing more than a joke at this time, a future trip to Jamaica wouldn’t be out of the question; Markle and Harry were said to be very happy with their time there earlier this year, when they attended Harry’s friend Tom “Skippy” Inskip’s wedding—the one Bolt mentioned in his interview. The couple were caught on camera, with many reports confirming just how happy the two of them seemed.
