Supermarket giant Aldi has issued a nationwide recall for a popular brand of hotdogs after bone fragments and bacteria were found inside.
The NSW Food Authority issued a recall for ‘Berg Smallgoods’ American Style Skinless Hot Dogs in a 375g plastic packet from stores across the country on Tuesday.
This includes stores in NSW, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia.
The products in question include any with a use-by date up to and including January 28, 2018, and customers who have purchased this product are urged not to eat it, and to return it immediately for a full refund.
Anyone who has already eaten it, and has any concerns about their health, are urged to seek medical advice.
“Consumers should not consume this product and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” the warning stated.
“If you are concerned about your health you should seek medical advice.”
Meanwhile an Aldi Australia spokesperson told Starts at Sixty: “ALDI Australia is committed to providing its customers with safe products of the highest quality.
“As part of this commitment, we have issued a precautionary recall of the Berg Smallgoods American Style Skinless Hot Dogs 375g.
“The recall is due to potential risk of illness and the presence of bone fragments.”
The statement went on: “ALDI is conducting a close investigation with the supplier of the product and is collaborating with the NSW Food Authority.
“Customers who have purchased this product should return the product to any ALDI store for a full refund.”
