In what will surely come as welcomed news for fans, Aussie rock icon Jimmy Barnes has revealed that it’s “onwards and upwards” following his “last hip procedure”.
The positive update comes after the Working Class Man hitmaker shocked fans when he shared the unfortunate news that he had been admitted to hospital recently after a “twinge” in his hip became “unbearable” and was to undergo “a remedial medical procedure ASAP”.
Barnes, with the help of his wife Jane, has diligently kept fans updated on his progress and in his latest update Barnes shared the good news that the “hardest part is over” following his latest procedure, making the announcement alongside a series of images from hospital alongside family and medical professionals.
“Last hip procedure done and dusted,” he revealed
“The hardest part is over. I’m surrounded by the best of care, now. all I have to do is follow orders… onwards and upwards.”
Following the announcement, fans couldn’t contain their excitement with many taking to the post to wish Barnes “all the very best”.
“You’re the man….thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful wife and family,” one wrote.
“All the best Jimmy!”
“Sending big love mate!” commented another.
“All the very best jimmy with your recovery the kids will keep you smiling they are gorgeous.”
Barnes’ current health woes come after the 68-year-old had just recently triumphed over another series of health challenges.
In late November last year, Barnes battled with a bout of bacterial pneumonia. Later he shocked fans with the revelation that he was set to undergo open-heart surgery after the infection spread.
“Unfortunately I got some bad news late yesterday … despite everyone’s best efforts the bacterial infection I’ve been battling over the last fortnight has apparently now spread to my heart,” he said at the time
“It’s infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I’ll be getting open-heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve.
“Obviously this is going to take me out of action for a while. I know lots of other people are battling even worse things but it still feels hugely frustrating.
“Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I’ve been in decades!”
Much like he has this time, Barnes quickly defied concerns, making strides in his recovery while sharing encouraging updates and eventually returning to the stage, much to the delight of his fans.
