Since saying goodbye to politics four years ago, Julie Bishop has really ramped up things in the style department, and her latest look at a London fashion event proves it.

It may have been close to Halloween but there was nothing spooky about the 66-year-old’s Barbie-esque look as she took the stage at the Sherman Centre for Cultural Ideas Fashion Hub event at London’s Design Museum on Saturday, October 29.

As a keynote speaker for the event, the former Foreign Minister had all eyes on her as she rocked a hot pink leather mini dress with balloon sleeves, sparkling heels and pink diamante earrings.

More than just a fun look, Bishop’s frock was a statement in itself as designer Leo Lin had created the dress to represent “the new era of femininity laced with strength, fearlessness, and confidence.”

Bishop shared her look on Instagram, where many fans of the former politician took to the comment section to praise her for her excellent choice of clothing.

Perfect in pink @honjuliebishop,” one fan wrote.

“You are an excellent David Jones fashion ambassador!! Always dressed to impress!”

“You look incredible Julia! Love the dress. Impeccable taste!”

“@honjuliebishop Australia is now well represented in the fashion stakes. And politics is you. Enjoy your time.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Bishop used fashion to raise awareness on a topic.

Last October, she kicked off the Frocktober campaign wearing a ruffled, pink and red ombre floor-length gown and safety boots as an initiative to raise money and awareness for ovarian cancer.

Just like Lin’s dress, Bishop’s gown – designed by Jaimie Sortino – held a deeper meaning behind all the tulle, as Sortino designed the dress alongside his cousin Jenna, who passed away from ovarian cancer.

The dress also has the words, “empathy” and “courage” embroidered into the gown, delivering a statement for those who have suffered and survived the insidious disease.

Bishop’s latest appearance in London comes a couple of weeks after she served up a jaw-dropping look at a David Jones event in Bourke Street, Melbourne.

Looking as elegant a ever, Bishop worked all her best angles as she donned a strapless, black, floor-length number that fit her in all the right places.

Since her shocking split with longtime partner David Panton, Bishop has been living it up and embracing her single life.
