Sonia Kruger pulled out all the fashion stops on the weekend for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes Day in Sydney. The Dancing with the Stars co-host wowed the crowd in a fitted, electric-blue Alex Perry midi dress with statement tassel sleeves. The 55-year-old topped off the ensemble with clear heels, diamond rings and a sparkly blue headpiece that framed her blonde up-do.
Sam Armytage, 44, opted for a more relaxed vibe for the occasion, donning a dark purple and white polka-dot shirt dress, with brown accessories and gold earrings. The former Sunrise host wore her hair in a half-up, half-down style, complete with matching bow. She attended the event alongside her husband Richard Lavender, 61, with whom she tied the knot on New Year’s Eve.
Sonia’s glamorous race-day outing comes as the 55-year-old, who’s about to host the new season of Big Brother, told TV Week she has no plans on slowing down anytime soon. “Mentally, I still feel the same way I felt when I was 25,” she told the news site. “That hasn’t really changed.”
However, the TV presenter did admit that some days, physically, can be a bit of a struggle. “When I’ve done a long day of shooting in high heels – after I’ve shot a big day of The Voice or a big opener or a grand finale of a show – sometimes the next day I feel like I’ve run a marathon and, physically, I’m a bit exhausted. But usually it only takes a day or two to recover,” she revealed. “Really, it’s the high heels. In my downtime, like right now, it’s all about Birkenstocks.”
The mother-of-one also opened up about her six-year-old daughter Maggie and whether she’d follow in her mum and dad’s footsteps in the future. “Maggie’s getting a pretty good education in [television] because [long-term partner] Craig [McPherson] works in news and public affairs [for Channel Seven], and I feel like she already understands a lot of television terminology,” she said. “I think she knows what a play-on and a play-off is, and what a voiceover means. It’s a cadetship via us.”
