She used to be a regular girl from Tasmania but Crown Princess Mary of Denmark has proven time and time again that she’s every inch the royal when it comes to her style.

The mother-of-four has upped the fashion ante for her latest royal engagement in Denmark, opting for a truly gorgeous frock for an event in Copenhagen on Thursday. Mary was a very special guest to honour five researchers and 20 students at the opera in the iconic European city.

Each year, Denmark’s Minister of Education and Research awards kr.1.2 million (AU $2.5 million, US $1.8 million) to five of the most talented researchers in the country and kr.200,000 travel grants to each of the students. This year, Mary was on board for the festivities.

The 47-year-old was radiant in red and wowed crowds with a figure-hugging gown. The dress complimented the royal perfectly and she topped off the look with a stylish pair of nude heels. She was also spotted keeping herself warm with a trendy grey jacket and wore her luscious brunette looks in a wavy style for the event.

The Danish Royal Family shared an array of snaps from Mary’s day out on Instagram – all showcasing her impeccable style.

In one photograph, Mary was pictured alongside the 20 students who won the awards, while she posed with the five researchers in another. A further photo showed the Australian-born royal holding a gorgeous bouquet of flowers as she boarded a barge. Of course, it’s not the first time Princess Mary has stepped out in style.

Last month, the young royal rugged up in a warm winter outfit for an important meeting about women’s rights. Mary opted for a cosy turtle neck sweater and fashionable brown jacket for the outing in Denmark as she met with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Executive Director Dr Natalia Kanem.

During Kanem’s visit to the country, the pair discussed the workings of the organisation and possible joint activities with the Danish royal family.

“At the meeting, the director of the United Nations Population Fund, as the Crown Princess is the patron, told about the organisation’s ongoing work and priorities and the challenges the organisation faces in its global work,” the Danish royal family wrote on Instagram at the time.

The UNFPA is known as the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Its main aim is to assist those through pregnancy across the world.
