Thanks to Mim Morgan, a member of the Travel at 60 Travel Lovers group, for these great tips:
1. “Firstly, don’t expect too much, but do expect respect and value. If you’re booking cheap accommodation, then don’t expect something that’s five-star – but if you’re kind and friendly to the owners or staff you’ll often get five-star attention.”
2. “If you’re caravanning, don’t push the limit and go too far in a day. In between those big and well-advertised resorts and parks there are very interesting places to explore, and you’ll miss some amazing sights. Try some free campsites, but mix them up with paid sites, too. There are so many great people to meet and places to see, so take your time and savour each region. Remember, you’re on holiday or – even better – retired!”
3. “Cruising has become my favourite choice of relaxation. It’s not for everyone, but I recommend trying it. A cruise allows you to visit interesting and exotic places you might not normally get the chance to see, as well as offering activities to keep you busy – it’s a good introduction to retirement!”
About Mim
“My sister calls me a nomad – always has,” says Mim. “She has never moved out of Blacktown in New South Wales, however in almost 50 years of marriage I have travelled and lived in more than 50 places – from Wedderburn in Victoria to Bringelly, Windsor, Seven Hills, Taylors Arm and many more places in New South Wales, right up to Mulambin Beach, Yeppoon in Queensland. I own a farm south of Casino in NSW, but am currently enjoying the Moreton Bay Region while renting a small unit, very cheaply, in Caboolture. I love the islands and waterways and the magnificent sunsets in this neck of the woods. Travel for me is a way of life and although I’m here for health reasons, my motto is ‘Let me live while I’m dying’ – don’t stop me now!”
