Ingrid Seward’s latest royal biography, My Mother and I, has opened a window into Queen Elizabeth II’s private opinions about her son, King Charles, shedding light on a side of the Royal Family that often remains hidden from the public eye.

According to Seward, the late Queen often grew frustrated with Charles, particularly his perceived lack of “sympathy” for those experiencing hardships.

Despite Charles’s unselfish nature, the Monarch believed his privileged lifestyle had made him somewhat “inconsiderate” when it came to the suffering of others.

“The Queen never understood Charles’ pampered lifestyle and found it rather mystifying, as by nature Charles is not a selfish man, but a life of being deferred to often stopped him considering others,” Steward wrote in the book.

Seward goes on to describe Charles’s unconventional approach to his own health struggles, such as sleeping in an “oxygen tent” to combat sinus problems.

However, despite these challenges, Charles apparently lacks sympathy for what he considers trivial ailments and maintains a rigorous work ethic, even forgoing Sunday morning lie-ins, regardless of his health.

“He has no sympathy for trivial ailments and combats his own sinus problems by sleeping in an oxygen tent. Tiredness or oversleeping are not acceptable excuses for missing even an hour’s work and he will never have a lie-in on a Sunday morning, even if he is feeling unwell,” Seward wrote.

In another revelation, Prince Philip’s unique nickname for Meghan Markle was also uncovered, shedding light on the Duke of Edinburgh’s perspective on the American actress who joined the Royal Family.

According to Seward, the late Prince Philip coined the shorthand “DoW” for Markle “from the moment he detected her apparent similarity to” Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor.

The Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, played a pivotal role in British history when she prompted King Edward VIII to abdicate the throne in pursuit of their love. Prince Philip, having witnessed the consequences of such romantic entanglements within the Royal Family, maintained a cautious stance throughout.

Seward delved further into the intricate dynamics within the Royal Family in her latest biography, disclosing that while Queen Elizabeth II initially approved of Prince Harry’s fiancée during their first meeting at Buckingham Palace, Prince Philip remained skeptical, wary of succumbing to what he perceived as Meghan’s “charm offensive”.

As the royal revelations continue to captivate readers, it becomes evident that behind the glittering facade of the Monarchy, there are intricate dynamics and personal perspectives that shape the relationships within the Royal Family.
