While some people in the public eye feel the need to show off a new outfit for every occasion, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark never struggles to make a statement, even if it’s in a dress she’s already worn before! And the Danish royal did just that on her most recent engagement, as she dusted off an old favourite from way back in 2018.

Although Princess Mary has preferred block colours and dark colour schemes as of late – this long-sleeved cream dress with a spattering of gorgeous floral prints was definitely a refreshing look. The stunning dress had buttons running down the front and stopped about mid-shin before she finished off the look with some gorgeous navy closed-toe heels.

The Australian-born princess, 48, was helping to pay tribute to inspiring and committed teachers with the first Teaching Prize award created by the Ministry of Eduction and Research. The new award is said to create awareness of the teaching role in higher education and to further inspire excellence in the field.

A series of photos were shared to the Danish royal family’s official Instagram page that showed a smiling Mary handing over an award to a lucky recipient. It also showed the group socially-distancing for a photo in which they all stood slightly apart from one another.

The caption on the post said that Mary helped to present the awards to the seven winners who represented all types of higher education institutions. The award consists of a personal honorary prize of 200,000 kr ($43,950) and 300,000 kr ($65,926) which must be spent on development activities that create a healthy and engaging teaching environment.

Mary’s stunning frock was perfectly suited for the important occasion, but it isn’t the first time the public has seen her in it. In fact, she first opted for the unique design back in 2018 when celebrating her husband Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday.

Unlike the most recent event where Mary’s brown locks were left loose, at Frederik’s birthday, she chose to pin her hair back and accessorise with some light blue earrings that perfectly matched the striking blue pattern on the dress.

Clearly a fan of florals, Mary also donned a stunning black and white floral dress matched with a black peplum blazer and nude heels for the unveiling of a new Australian War Memorial in Copenhagen earlier this month. The sombre event was dedicated to the fallen soldiers who lost their lives in Denmark during the first and second world wars.

Mary attended the event alongside Denmark’s Australian Ambassador Mary Ellen Miller to unveil the new memorial that presents the inscription: “For our tomorrow, they gave their today”.
